Cycle much? Join the VeloBees!
Updated: Aug 26, 2020

After borrowing a road bike from my friend and FC Griffin Park team mate Kenny, after my own neglected rickety hybrid clapped out, I was instantly converted by the thrill of it. What's not to like about flying effortlessly down a public highway at 45km on a bike?!
So we agreed to arrange a ride together and last Thursday, 20 August 2020, we did just that. Kenny, myself and fellow FCGP team mate Eduardo took our road bikes out for a spin and had a blast.
We're in the habit of setting up clubs and naming things at the moment, so we decided to call our little cycle posse VeloBees and set a target of going for a ride every Thursday evening from now on.
In the same spirit as FC Griffin Park, we'd like to open this up to our team mates, fellow Brentford fans, Brentford residents, and anyone else really. Always starting and ending in Brentford, we are looking to set out after work sometime between 17:30 and 19:00 and ride between 30km and 50km in any direction, .
Let me know if you would like to join us for a ride at rhys.williams.brentford@gmail.com or by mobile on 07580583466
Ed recorded the first cycle for posterity and did a great job editing this little video:
Postscript: Road bikes are fun, but they are not toys, and riding can be dangerous. Just two days after this ride - on a far shorter and simpler journey - I managed to cycle straight into a hedge. Thankfully the results look more dramatic than they were (only scratches). Stay safe on the roads, whatever your preferred mode of transport.
